1953 Studebaker Convertible- One of a Kind

Studebaker never produced a convertible in this body style.
This one started out as a hardtop, damaged in a barn collapse, and was converted to a fully functional soft top using components from a '64 Dodge Dart.
Reinforced frame,
Air ride suspension,
Kelsey Hays style wire wheels,
Supercharged Studebaker R2 V8,
GM 200R4 transmission,
Electric power steering,
A/C,
Cruise control.
Just over 50,000 miles on original construction,
15,000 miles on the engine.
Very nice PPG Concept urethane paint.
This is a stunningly beautiful automobile.
People who know nothing about cars will stop and admire it because it looks so right.
People who know everything about cars do the same thing for the same reason.
Dennis Gage, host of "My Classic Car" TV called it "the most beautiful Studebaker I have ever seen".
Featured in Turning Wheels and Rod & Custom magazines, My Classic Car TV (S14E05), and numerous online, video and print media.
Google "53 Studebaker Convertible" and numerous photos, video and articles about this car will appear in the search results.
A consistent winner at shows big and small, and featured on 7 different Meet/T-shirt logos, including Goodguys and Rod Run to the End of the World.
This car was built to drive and it motors down the highway in grand style.
Some road rash, but still shows quite well next to all manner of trailer queens.
Really don't want to sell, but we're in a serious downsizing phase, and just don't have the room anymore.
