1941 Ford Convertible *SOLD*
Item #: 19059
This 1941 Ford Convertible has been sold.
Flop the top, don the shades, hang the left arm over the driver door garnish rail so the bicep looks twice its size and go cruuuuuuzn! This boulevard beauty is ready to take you to any desired destination in style. It may not be a Riddler winner but would hold its own at any rod run and always draws a crowd wherever it is.
Here are some of its features:
'53 Merc engine that has been increased to a 276 cu.in size, ported and relieved, balanced, adjustable tappets, high volume oil pump, new high volume water pumps, Fenton headers, Offenhauser heads (8.5:1) and four barrel intake running a Holley 390 with electric choke, Powermaster hi-torqe starter, new 12 volt negative ground wiring with key start, 6 blade fan and a 4 ¾ gallon cooling capacity. The car does not over heat!!! It starts immediately and you can take off right away without waiting for it to warm up thanks to the electric choke. It cruises nicely at highway speeds but has enough torque to make in town travel take less shifting.
Transmission is stock, rebuilt Ford with a column shift; it does not pop out of second!! It is connected to the Ford 8" rear end running 3.5+- ratio by an open drive shaft. The rear end is mounted with parallel leaf springs and 1" lowering blocks. Stock front suspension with power disk brakes on the front powdercoated wheels and drum rear, also attached to powder coated 15" wheels. Tires are new 165R/15 Coker Classics all around. No shimmy or shake of the front end!
New vinyl top and boot with a large plastic rear window for better visibility. Another feature for better rear view is that the cowl mirrors have been moved back to a door mount so they can be seen from the driver's seat (see pictures). The top is easily operated manually but the original struts, motors and switch are included if power operation is desired (one motor casing needs welding). Also supplied with the car are the original heater/defroster with stock switch, oil filter, radio antenna and stock rear window frame. Leather front seat, carpets rather than rubber mats and '50 Ford style window and door handles.
The all steel, stock body is painted a color approximating Washington Blue (formula supplied), it is not "laser straight" but very acceptable and minor defects (no dents) are mostly non-apparent unless pointed out. All the Super Deluxe trim is there but a few ripples are apparent. Painted fender skirts are supplied (the owner likes the open wheel look).
So if you are looking for an attention grabbing, reliable, powerful and comfortable convertible this has to be the one.
