1955 Chevrolet 2 Door Post (Gasser)
This car is an absolute show stopper built with unmatched attention to detail and no expense spared frame-off restoration.
Suspension: Straight Axle front suspension with leaf springs from Speedway including '54 Chevy front disc brake kit. Art Morrison 32" ladder bar rear suspension with spring kit attached to a narrowed Ford 9" 4.11 (posi) and Dutchman 31 spline axles. Rear stopping power comes from 12" Wildwood disc brakes with a Wildwood proportioning valve delivering great stopping power. Rear suspension is welded to a custom cross member which features a drive shaft loop and custom cutouts allowing the 3" exhaust to run through the cross member giving a professional yet strong and functional appearance. Every suspension piece has a show quality chrome finish by Oregon Plating and all fasteners on the car are chrome.
Engine/Transmission: Brand new crate ZZ 502/502 motor was sent over to Somers Machine for a custom grind camshaft, intake manifold, timing unit, oil pan, port/polished heads and port matched intake providing 630 HP on 92 octane gas. Over $13K was spent on the motor alone. Transmission is a TH 400 with a Stage 2 shift kit and a 2800 stall converter. All transmission work was performed by Gresham Transmission. Huge fender well headers with custom cutouts and custom made 3" Mandrel exhaust system runs through Flowmaster mufflers making this big engine rumble the pavement. All exhaust was coated in a high temp coating by R&M Coatings of Portland OR. Big three core custom aluminum radiator with electric fan was made by Mac's Radiator of Portland Oregon and allows you to cruise/sit in traffic for hours without ever overheating.
Body/Paint: This entire car was acid dipped by Superior Stripping in Portland Oregon to ensure all body parts (body, doors, fenders, hood, and deck lid) are absolutely rust free. The already solid/straight body was sent to long-time professional body man Paul Tihart who used old school pick and file/heat shrink (no body filler) techniques to massage the already good body into a perfect sheet of glass. The Body was placed on a rotisserie and sent over to Ray Fialla of Ray's Paint Barn who applied the primer and guide coats and then finishing off this car in a base coat clear coat PPG Strong Black. This paint job is absolutely flawless and perfectly straight and cost over $13k (2006).
Interior: 64 Impala bucket seats with full rear seat covered in black tuck and roll by Dan Leisy of Dan's Custom Upholstery in Portland OR. Ididit tilt column (chrome) with all vintage Moon gauges and custom built four point roll cage that allows you total access to the rear seat. The show quality sixties style interior cost was over $10K.
There is literally too much custom fabrication to list on this car making it one of the nicest, most well-built 55 Chevy's you will ever see. No expense was spared, no details were skipped and no short cuts were taken. This car literally has the best of everything and it shows.
