I was told by the previous owner that he was told that it was an X-Police Car (no documentation to back it up)

"It's a real bomb!", claimed Dodge advertising about the new D-500.
And that pretty much covered it.
This was, by design, the first true Dodge performance car.
Based on the facelift of the '55 models, this was, in terms of looks at least, nothing more than a normal production car.
But under the hood...that was something else.
Sitting on a special double-channelled, heavy-duty box section chassis that used Chrysler New Yorker parts, was the biggest power plant ever seen thus far in a Dodge production model - a redesigned 315in/3 Hemi V8 which gave out a whopping 260 horsepower.
To stop this machine, 12in drum brakes taken from the senior Chrysler models were utilized, along with other heavy-duty suspension parts from Imperials.
These cars had phenomenal success on the track and the strip, but nowadays are a forgotten breed - but why? When the 1956 cars were debuted, each Chrysler Division had it's own 'sports car'.

Appraised by an AACA Hershey Judge for more than my asking price.
