1956 Studebaker Power Hawk

Few would argue that the Raymond Loewy designed Studebaker Coupes that first appeared in 1953 and continued until the last US built Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk rolled off the South Bend, Indiana assembly line in 1964, were among the most stylish vehicles of that era. In 1956, the first of the Hawk Series made a dramatic debut in four versions. The Champion Flight Hawk, Commander Power Hawk, President Sky Hawk, and the top of the line Golden Hawk were very similar in appearance with a number of power train options that appealed to nearly every type of buyer. Approximately 20,000 Hawks were sold in the first year; more than a third of them (7095) were the popular Power Hawk. Very few remain.

Offered for sale is one of the survivors; one that exhibits an outstanding state of preservation, comes with a complete ownership and maintenance history, and, after 65 years on the road, shows the lowest proven actual mileage known - just 29,700 miles on the odometer. Studebaker's ''Family Sports Car'' is not only a joy to look at, it is a pleasure to drive.

This three owner Power Hawk has been meticulously maintained throughout its lifetime, and was repainted approximately 7 years ago.
The original owner (1956 – 1997) ordered the car to his own specifications and it was delivered to a dealer in San Francisco.
A second owner (1997 – 2001) rarely drove it, and the current owner (2001 – 2021), an active member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, has driven and displayed the vehicle for two decades.
It is a dependable driver, easy to drive despite the fact that it does not have power steering nor power brakes.
Since it does not have air conditioning, it is only occasionally driven in Las Vegas summer months.
To fully appreciate how incredible this coupe is, interested buyers are encouraged to inspect the car before tendering an offer.
It just may be the nicest stock Power Hawk in the world today.
