1961 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe
95,834 original miles on the odometer. A 1200 cc stock engine rebuilt at 86,993 miles by the professionals at The Parts House in Modesto, CA. so the engine has been driven 8,841 miles since being rebuilt. The restoration of this Ghia was completed in Modesto before I purchased the car in 2009. The first upgrade I made was the front disc brakes. Next was to improve the heat system with a fresh air heating system with new heater boxes. I have all the records on the restoration and mechanical upgrades I've done since I've owned the car.
This is a perfect example of a true European sports car - a "poor man's Porsche" as it has been called. Professionally restored back to near perfect factory condition with some safety modifications.
I've been told so many times at car shows or just on a drive that "it's the nicest Ghia I've ever seen!" A mechanic at the Sports Car Shop in Eugene, OR who's from Modesto, CA. and has seen a lot of Ghia's told me the same thing.
Driving this Ghia is an experience in itself, the way the car hugs and moves through corners. At freeway speeds the aerodynamics of the car, pushing it down to the road as a semi passes, the Ghia stays solid in its path, not budging but staying its course.
The owner's manual states that on flat ground at 56 MPH the Ghia will get 37.5 miles per gallon. I've taken care of this classic. It may be an older restoration, but it still looks fresh today.
Come see this beautiful Ghia. It could be yours! Research shows the average price of this car is $40,880 and a high value of $70,000.
