1985 Jeep J10 Pickup
Finally came to the decision to sell our 1985 Jeep J10. It's a beauty. We literally bought this from a "little old lady" just west of Port Angeles who purchased it new at Heckman Motors here in Port Angeles in 1985. It had 92K on it when we got it and it now has 114,XXX. She was 85 years old and kept it parked inside and had a canopy on it as well. Not one spot of rust in the bed and pretty much anywhere that these Jeeps usually rust out.
This truck has the in-line 4.2 liter engine and a 4 speed transmission. We've changed/added just a few things since we got it, but overall we've left it pretty well stock. We had the bed & fender flares/lower body panels Arma-Coated. We took off all the mid-80's vacuum lines/old carb and installed a new Webber 2-barrel. We removed the leaky plastic valve cover that many mid-80's Jeeps had and put on a new aluminum billet model. The old AM/FM radio was replaced with a custom unit (that has just recently croaked) but the dash has not been butchered up because the custom unit was built to fit and we still have all the original items removed (which includes the radio, the non-locking original Jeep gas cap, the original carb and distributer, the air cleaner assembly, etc.). The truck is straight & clean. We did repaint the original cream/tan color with a BMW Valencia Orange simply to spruce things up - didn't care for the tan. It's a head turner for sure and we constantly have people coming up and asking us about it when we're out in town or if we'd like to sell it.
Everything on the truck is pretty much stock/original other than what we've mentioned above. The tires still have great tread on them & are mounted on plain black steel rims. There is another complete set of 4 white steel spoke wheels that go with the truck as well (truck came with 2 complete sets). Other little customizing additions included front and rear matching HD steel bumpers that really set it off. These are solid, HD units that are fully gusseted and bolted well back onto the frame members.
We've recently (October) just replaced wires, plugs, cap/rotor, fuel pump on a tune-up. We also just had new front calipers & pads put on the front brakes in December. About 18 mos ago we replaced the radiator with a new one. We've taken really good care of this rig but we've got too many other vehicles to keep this in the stable. Always garaged and kept clean, if you want to drive a solid classic Jeep pickup from yesteryear you'll want to look at this one. It's not beat up, dented up, rusted through or clapped out like pretty much all of the Jeep's this age are. It's never been off-roaded or abused - this one's a beauty.
Feel free to e-mail me with your questions/interest (firstname.lastname@example.org) and provide your contact info (phone, etc.) and I will get right back to you. You won't be disappointed with this truck, inside or out.
Thanks for looking!
